Jim's 10-year journey in the United States Marine Corps, notably as a Combat Cameraman, was a unique path that took him around the globe. His roles included historical documentation, reconnaissance/intelligence imagery acquisition, instructional media, and the art of visual storytelling. Alex, armed with a Master's Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, brings a wealth of marketing and communications expertise. Her work in enhancing the messaging, branding, and exposure of non-profits and private companies has left an indelible mark.

Together, their vision is to celebrate the beauty of eastern North Carolina, with a special focus on the breathtaking Crystal Coast. Blue Marlin Media is dedicated to collaborating with small-owned businesses and public sector entities, igniting hometown pride through their apparel and accessory line.

Alex Skelton

Alex is a dedicated and accomplished professional, Alex is a graduate of North Carolina State University, Class of 2016. Her commitment to education led her to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she earned her Master's in Communication in 2023. Currently, she serves as a full-time program director for the State of North Carolina, where her skills and passion drive positive change.

Beyond her professional life, Alex wears the hats of a devoted wife and a loving mother to a fortunate 4-year-old English Cream Golden Retriever, Dixie, and a lively 2-year-old named Issa. With extensive experience in marketing and communications, she excels in creating websites, managing social media platforms, brand development, collaborating with news agencies, and crafting compelling graphic designs.

In both her career and personal endeavors, Alex exemplifies a spirit of excellence and a commitment to making a difference.

Jim Skelton

Jim has had a remarkable 10-year career in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his illustrious journey, Jim donned various roles, most notably as a Combat Cameraman. His lens captured the essence of military life, offering a unique perspective and invaluable documentation.

Jim's commitment to excellence led him to the prestigious Military Visual Journalism program at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University. Graduating in May 2019, he emerged as a masterful storyteller.

Following this milestone, Jim received orders to the Pentagon, where he assumed the vital role of Communications Strategy & Operations Chief. Here, he crafted strategic communications products tailored for the Commandant and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, leaving an indelible mark.

Jim's talent as a project manager, lead editor, and cinematographer came to the fore as he spearheaded the Emmy Award-winning 2019 Marine Corps Birthday Message. The following year, he took on the role of co-editor for yet another Emmy Award-winning production, the 2020 Marine Corps Birthday Message.

Jim's dedication to visual excellence earned him multiple awards from the Secretary of Defense, recognizing his unparalleled skill and contribution. In May 2021, he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, returning to Carteret County with a new mission: to serve his community through the power of visual storytelling.

Jim's quest for knowledge extended to academia, with pursuits at the University of Alabama, focusing on business, and East Carolina University, where his concentration was in Communications. His journey is a testament to dedication, service, and the art of preserving stories through a lens.
